(MENAFN – The Peninsula) Doha: Chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim bin Faisal Al Thani, has inaugurated a Fine Art exhibition at the Katara Art Center.
The exhibition includes several paintings and calligraphy by a group of international artists, mostly from Iran. Resident artists in Qatar from Canada, America are also participating.
The event’s opening was attended by ambassadors, business people, art lovers, and journalists. ‘About 72 paintings by 17 artists from different countries around the world will remain exhibited in the Katara Art Center building (Building No. 5) until the end of December, said Mahin Lippmayer, organiser of the event.
She thanked Katara for its support, encouragement, and cooperation in organizing the event.
For his part, Chairman Sheikh Faisal expressed his appreciation to the organisers for holding this exhibition, which contains artwork from different countries.
The chairman said he was impressed by the high quality of art on display, including those of Qatari artists, which opens a window to see the world from a different perspective. The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Qatar, Omar Al Barzanji, talked about the role of art in societies, expressing his admiration for the exhibition, which showcases the value of art in politics, culture, science and more; considering that art has a supreme value in our societies.
‘Iraq has a great history in writing and art. The writings on clay tablets in the civilizations of Iraq go back to the year 5000 BC, he noted.
Canada’s Ambassador to Qatar, Stefanie McCollum, said: ‘It is so beautiful to be here this evening and to experience the variety of beautiful artworks by great international artists with diverse styles.
