Doha: International Mother Language Day was celebrated in Loyola International School (LIS) to help students enhance their awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity that exists in the world.
The event also helped in the promotion of multilingualism. Students across all Grades participated with great enthusiasm and flair. In keeping with the need of the times, the activities were held in a blended fashion wherein some children participated in online activities whereas there other students who participated in various activities on their school campus.
All activities were conducted in a safe environment adhering to all health and safety guidelines. Dressed up in their resplendent traditional clothes, the tiny tots of the kindergarten and the energetic learners of the primary sections spoke eloquently in their mother languages.
Students of the middle school wrote essays, recited poems and sang songs in different languages. They were ably guided encouraged by their language teachers. There were posters, charts and collages creatively displayed through the school campus.
Loyola has a diverse student population that hails from several nations thus offering many opportunities for students to witness and respect the rich cultural and linguistic diversity that exists in every classroom.
The School Principal P.K.V Prasad and Vice Principal Mou Bera congratulated the students for their outstanding work and also commended the teachers for helping the students appreciate the beauty of linguistic diversity.
